Enterprise Risk Management, or ERM, is a strategic approach to identifying and managing an organization's key business risks in an effort to help the organization achieve its strategic goals. A company employing ERM will generally identify the risks to the company's goals, rank the risks according to the likelihood of an occurrence and potential consequences thereof, and assess the manner in which such risks can be addressed, if at all. Such risks may be regulatory compliance, accounting, litigation or Information Technology, among many other possibilities. This program will assist General Counsel in understanding the basics of ERM, its importance for companies of various sizes and in various industries, and the general methodologies companies have utilized in the implementation of an effective ERM approach.
